03 Mac 2008 : Launching of Sinema Malaysia Portal

Sinema Malaysia portal developed by FINAS Public Communication Unit was grandly launched at Sound Stage Studio. The ceremony were attended by KEKKWA Deputy Secretary Head (Cultural), Dato’ Mohammed b. Mohd. Daud, FINAS Chairman, Senator Datuk Jins Shamsudin, FINAS Chief Director Mohd. Mahyidin Mustakim, and its members of corporation. The ceremony was solemnized by Ministry of Culture, Arts, and Heritage Malaysia (KeKKWa), Deputy Minister Dato’ Wong Kam Hoong.

Finas, the National Film Development Corporation, has put the Malaysian film world on-line, creating the Sinema Malaysia website with information on the local film industry, artistes, crews and films. Launched in March at the Finas studio, it is a directory of production houses, artistes, film information and new talent, and a discussion forum. The site design and data collection took three months to complete. "Our aim is to cater to people interested in the local film industry. As long as you are a film fan, you are welcome," said Sinema Malaysia web forum moderator and supervisor Mohd Faizal Mohd Fauzi.

Throughout the HK Filmart that took place from the 20th to 23rd of March 2007, National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) had been actively introducing and promoting SinemaMalaysia.com.my portal to the visitors who flooded the Malaysian Pavilion’s exhibition area sponsored by Multimedia Development Corporation (MDEC) and FINAS.
