FINAS & MDEC Exhibition Area at 'Malaysia Pavilion', Hong Kong FILMART 2007 |
HONG KONG -Throughout the HK Filmart that took place from the 20th to 23rd of March 2007, National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) had been actively introducing and promoting SinemaMalaysia.com.my portal to the visitors who flooded the Malaysian Pavilion’s exhibition area sponsored by Multimedia Development Corporation (MDEC) and FINAS.
The SinemaMalaysia.com.my portal which has just completed its first phase and was officially launched on the 13th of March, a week ago, has managed to captivate many delegates from various countries.
“I’m very much impressed with this portal. There is much information that could be found in here that would be highly beneficial to film- festival organizer like us” commented Heather Keung, Program Director of the Reel Asian International Film Festival of Canada.
“Recently, I find that FINAS has successfully brought many changes and positive developments to the Malaysian film industry. This portal is one of the proofs.” said Sozo Teruoka, a reporter from Japan.

Even though the portal is in the development process of its second phase, many have been impressed and commended on the initiatives taken by the Malaysian government particularly the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage Malaysia (KeKKWa) along with FINAS.
“I hope my country could develop a portal such as this” wished Anish JS Metha, a film producer from India. According to her, many local producers in India had to strive on their own in promoting and enhancing the quality of films in their country.
In fact, many of our local film activists who were also present to promote their products at the HK Filmart agreed that the portal has helped them in marketing their film internationally.
“I really hope that FINAS would continue to advertise and promote this portal locally or internationally so that it can be fully utilized” expressed Gayatri Su-Lin Pillai, Executive Film Producer of Tayangan Unggul Sdn. Bhd.
